Notice of Vacancy and Intent to Appoint District 11 Hamilton County School Board Member

In accordance with Tennessee Code Annotated §§ 49-2-201, 49-2-202, and 5-1-104, the Chairman of the Hamilton County Board of Commissioners directs the County Clerk to give public notice regarding the procedures and meeting date for filling the District 11 Hamilton County Board of Education vacancy created by the resignation of Jill Black.

The Hamilton County Board of Commissioners will fill the unexpired term of the District 11 Hamilton County School Board seat by appointment at its Regular Meeting on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, at 5:00 PM in the County Commission Room, Room 402, Hamilton County Courthouse, 625 Georgia Avenue, Chattanooga, Tennessee.

To be eligible for appointment, a person must be a qualified voter of Hamilton County, reside within District 11, and otherwise meet the qualifications for the office under applicable law. Interested persons should submit a signed letter of interest stating their name, home address, contact information, District 11 residency, qualifications, and willingness to serve. A résumé may be included. Letters of interest may be delivered or mailed to the Hamilton County Commission Office, Attention: Faith Pitchford, Legislative Assistant, Room 401, 625 Georgia Avenue, Chattanooga, Tennessee 37402, or emailed to [email protected] no later than Friday, October 16, 2026, at 4:00 PM. Mailed submissions must be received by the deadline. The letter of interest deadline is for advance review only and is not a condition of nomination or appointment.
