Child Support
The Child Support Division of the Juvenile Court handles cases involving paternity (parentage)
establishment, child support orders, modifications, and contempt proceedings. The division is
staffed by three full-time magistrates, appointed by the Presiding Judge, along with court and clerk
personnel who help serve families.
Operating under federal regulations and in partnership with the State of Tennessee, the division
manages a large and growing caseload. It also handles support-related matters for children placed
in state custody.
The Court works closely with local child support agencies, the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office,
and other community partners to establish, collect, enforce, and distribute child support
payments. As a primary venue for child support proceedings in Hamilton County, the Court sets,
collects, enforces, and distributes child support to thousands of families.
